Dr. William McGillivrayMedical Director
Dr. William McGillivray doesn’t wear a wet suit to work each day so you are not likely to guess he was a champion windsurfer. Bev McGillivrayClinic Visionary
The saying goes: “behind every great man is a great woman.” Bev isn’t likely to take the credit but few would disagree she has been the driving force at the forefront and behind the scenes of Dr. McGillivray’s medical career.
No one title is big enough to fit Bev McGillivray as she has worn many hats over the years, both clinically and administratively. She is very clear, however, on the ‘vision’ for Project Skin MD and dedicated to creating a wonderful home for patients and team alike. Bev understands every patient has a choice and should they choose Project Skin MD, it is a privilege that we must not take for granted.
Bev’s studies – sciences at UBC and Dental Hygiene in Toronto – laid a foundation where patient care is instinctual. She was fortunate enough to work in one of the most clinically advanced practices in Toronto, learning revolutionary techniques and practices well ahead of their time. Bev’s early adoption of best practices was very much aligned with her husband’s principles of practice. So, in their case, partnership is a natural synergy – in life and in business.
Bev was instrumental in creating Lougheed Medical Clinic, Lougheed Laser Centre, Whistler Laser Centre and Pacific Dermaesthetics but never has she been more passionate about a project as with Project Skin MD – a product of lessons learned on a long and exciting journey.
PS: Bev has three other “projects” on-the-go named Liam, Hannah and Cameron. Never a dull moment, Bev aspires to boredom – a feeling she has become entirely foreign to!
Vanessa GrutmanBusiness Director
Our resident Frenchie, Vanessa moved from Montreal in 2009 just in time for the Winter Olympics. No, she did not come to compete, although she does hold a BSc in Kinesiology. Her formal training may be health and wellness oriented but it is the leadership, entrepreneurship, and business side where this gal shines!
As part of the L’Oreal team, Vanessa launched the SkinCeuticals brand in Western Canada back in 2010 and singlehandedly raised mammoth awareness in the medical arena for this scientifically accomplished, dermatological skincare line. Her in-depth knowledge led her to become a SkinCeuticals national trainer while growing the brand at an unprecedented rate. Dr. McGillivray and his wife Bev were one of her clients and together they envisioned the creation of the first SkinCeuticals Advanced Clinical Spa in North America – a unique patient-centred and fully integrated destination for long-lasting skin care results in Vancouver. Being congruent in ideals and principles, her entrepreneurial spirit called her to join Dr. McGillivray and Bev in creating what would become Project Skin MD.
Vanessa cares deeply about offering our clients the most innovative and empowering environment to learn about their skin health. In the clinic, she is mostly behind the scenes ensuring things are running smoothly on all levels. She thrives on injecting integrity, respect, trust and fun in everything she does. If you catch her around, she’ll likely be running from one meeting to the next, moving boxes in high heels or leading our PS Family.
PS: Our dynamo is a bit of a health nut. As a mom and wife, Vanessa takes the health of her family seriously, always looking for the next best thing. There is no such thing as the perfect work/life balance but she lives and breathes by her favourite mantra: “Dream Big, Live Simply”.
Samantha GreenOperations Manager
Samantha was raised on the West Coast in beautiful Victoria, where she graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology; our go-getter was even named to the Dean’s List.
Before joining our team, Samantha made her way to Vancouver after accepting a role that allowed her to combine her interest in business with her education and passion for health and wellness. She began her career in business operations at a biotechnology company developing immunotherapies for inflammatory diseases (including cancer and inflammatory bowel disease). Here, she gained experience in social media marketing, clinical trial monitoring, vendor relationship management, human resources and corporate affairs management—all skills, serendipitously, that serve her well in her position today.
When the opportunity to join the team at Project Skin MD presented itself, Samantha didn’t think twice, excited for the opportunity to apply her skills in business management to an area she’s always been excited about—skin health and aesthetic dermatology.
Samantha loves to practice yoga and travel. When she’s not at work, you’ll probably find her exploring in and out of the city, at a concert or trying a new restaurant.
P.S. Samantha holds the firm belief that, as Christopher McCandless famously said, “Happiness is only real when shared”. Lucky for us, her positive energy is contagious!
Angela Haff, RNAesthetic Nurse Injector & CoolSculpting Specialist
Bringing a rare femininity and warmth to the Project Skin MD team, Angela Haff is preceded by a legendary reputation in the aesthetics industry. In a world dedicated to beauty and positive self image, she comes by her fame honestly. Angela began her career as a Critical Care Nurse and Medical Technical Advisor in the film and television industry. Life took a sharp turn when she went to work for one of the country’s most respected plastic surgeons, Dr. Richard Warren. Under the tutelage of this esteemed physician, Angela acquired valuable understanding of the importance of ethics and responsibility in aesthetic medicine.
Angela was one of Canada’s first Nurse Injectors with, now, over 24 years of experience. Her specialty led to a role as Clinical Nurse Specialist on the original launch team for the Restylane® family of facial fillers in Canada. In this role, Angela educated and trained many of Canada’s top physicians and nurses and mentored many of her U.S. counterparts. Eventually, her position developed into sales and training and, ultimately, into management for Medicis Aesthetics.
Angela’s personal accomplishments are as impressive. Born in England, Angela eventually settled in Vancouver. She has ridden her bike through the hills of Italy and on the Road To Conquer Cancer. She is an avid reader and, to this day, still meets with the same great women of the book club she helped initiate over 19 years ago. While she describes her career path as ‘unconventional,’ Angela proves to be an artist at heart. She is passionate about design and travel, she thrives when exploring a new city or culture and if you ask her about her greatest accomplishment, she will quickly answer, “Raising my three children. Now adults, they remain my best work to date!”
As a specialized injector here at Project Skin MD, Angela is focused on building trusting relationships and providing great outcomes that preserve and respect the individual. What makes us each unique is, after all, what makes us beautiful. She believes in embracing age and the benefits that are inherent to it. As one of her favourite writers and humourists so succinctly said:
“Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.” ~ Oscar Wilde.
There are few more adored or valued than Angela and our team is all the better for her. Our patients will benefit from an extraordinary talent and commitment to providing an exceptional level of care.
Roxanne Hallgren, RN, BScNCosmetic Sclerotherapy Nurse
Born and raised in Vancouver, Roxanne Hallgren has worked full-time in the field of Phlebology (the study of veins and vein disease) since 1989, when she founded the successful Vancouver Vein Clinic Ltd.
Roxanne’s passion for helping her patients is matched only by her long list of qualifications and accomplishments. She was the first nurse to present at the American College of Phlebology in 1992, and is the only nurse in British Columbia—one of only three in Canada—to hold the designation of Elected Fellow of the Canadian Society of Phlebology. Throughout her impressive career, she has travelled the world to train with the best physicians in Phlebology, published several articles in her field, appeared in features on CBC News Hour, presented at both Canadian and American Phlebology meetings, and instructed many physicians and nurses in the assessment and treatment of vein disease.
Specializing in Cosmetic Sclerotherapy, Roxanne offers consultations and cosmetic treatments for spider and varicose veins at Project Skin MD. She is committed to keeping abreast of all the latest technology advances in Phlebology and aesthetic medicine, and annually attends international conferences on the subject to ensure every one of her treatments is as safe and effective as possible.
When she’s not treating varicose veins, you’ll likely find this animal-lover at the dog beach, riding her bike around UBC, shopping for fresh fish and produce on Granville Island, or working out with her trainer. Family is what’s most important to Roxanne, and she loves spending time with her brother, sister-in-law, and her nieces and nephew; she’s also a proud great-aunt!
PS. Roxanne has a love for horses. She and her mother bought their first pony for $50 when she was just ten years old, and she has since shared her life with four others.
Jeannie KehoePatient Concierge
Jeannie has not always worked in aesthetic medicine yet we can tell you it was what she was born to do. She’d argue that ‘Princess’ would have been a finer title but we know that Patient Concierge suits her to a T!
Another Montreal-er (born and raised), Jeannie’s working life began in the financial industry. In 1991, she moved to Hong Kong where she dabbled in real estate and worked part-time for Cathay Pacific. Jeannie’s keen interest in the cosmetic industry led to training in facial aesthetics while in Hong Kong and also inspired an appointment with Dr. McGillivray in Whistler, BC. There sparked the connection that would soon lead to a new career in Aesthetic Medicine.
In early 2007, Jeannie relocated to Vancouver as a founding staff member of Pacific DermAesthetics with the McGillivrays. During that tenure, Jeannie found her professional calling and has become an invaluable wealth of knowledge and wisdom for her patients.
Project Skin MD, Dr. McGillivray’s ultimate project, would not be complete without Jeannie’s assistance and steadfast loyalty. Officially, Jeannie’s role is to guide and assist our patients as patient concierge. She will ensure you navigate our ever-increasing opportunities to unmatched outcomes. Unofficially (of course), Jeannie is known to many of us as a Life Advisor, always happy to give (unsolicited) advice. We are sorry to report that her advice is usually right on the money!
PS: In her leisure time (when we let her out of the office), you will find Jeannie on the ski slopes, bike trails and golf courses, telling everyone she meets to apply sunscreen.
Jennifer BowlesClinical Manager
Born and raised in Victoria, Jennifer has dipped her toes into many professional pools. From an adrenaline-dominant career as a paramedic, to working in the fantastic world of hospitality at several 5-star hotels and resorts, and even a stint as a food writer with her own monthly magazine column, our girl is dedicated to whatever she does.
Now a Blanche MacDonald graduate, Jennifer’s passion for Aesthetics, and for helping people feel their very best, is what brought her to Project Skin MD. When she’s not making her patients feel relaxed and at ease, she’s no doubt making all those around her laugh.
PS: Jennifer is a health and wellness nut, and (as evidenced by her magazine column) a huge foodie. She loves to cook, and has even been lucky enough to personally meet some of the world’s most renowned chefs.
Leticia SpinelliClinical Assistant
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Leticia is a Brazilian Board Certified Dermatologist (Brazilian Society of Dermatology), and Master of Administrative Science in Global Health and Human Services Administration.
After working in her private clinic in Brazil for 8 years, she decided to move to Canada in 2016. She and her family chose Vancouver, where she pursued her Master’s Degree—which she completed in 2017—at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Since then, her cheerful and optimistic presence has been a welcome addition to the Project Skin MD team.
In the spirit of always improving, learning, and seeking excellence in everything she does, Leticia continues to educate herself on the latest in laser technology, injectables, and aesthetic dermatology. Her next big challenge? Taking the medical exam to become a Canadian-licensed MD.
In her spare time (we don’t know how she manages to find any), you’ll likely find her with her loving husband and daughter, or spending quality time with family and friends; over Japanese food (her favourite), if she has her way.
PS. Leticia is passionate about skin health and natural beauty, so she’s always seeking the latest and greatest in skincare and treatments. Make sure to ask about her favourites!
Christine PalylykLaser Technician & Cosmetic Tattoo Artist
Christine is a 4th-generation Lower Mainlander and the newest addition to the Technical and Clinical team here at Project Skin MD. With 19 years’ experience in the beauty industry (graduating from Blanche Macdonald in 1996), Christine embodies a true passion for aesthetics and beauty with a keen eye for detail.
Fresh from seven years at the Vancouver Laser & Skin Care Centre under Dr. Martin Braun, a year at the Lougheed Laser Centre prior to that (where she first made acquaintance with Dr. McGillivray in 2007), combined with a seven-year stretch at MAC Cosmetics, Christine truly loves to apply her knowledge of the science of beauty. She is an enthusiastic team member with a thirst for knowledge and is constantly updating her artistic and technical skills. On the softer side of this skill set, her warm and personal demeanor helps her clients feel instantly at ease.
On her personal days, Christine can be found riding her sport bike, enjoying the beautiful scenery that western North America has to offer. To date, her longest ride was a 4000-km road trip with her dad, all the way down to Wyoming and back. In the winter, Christine is glued to our local ski hills. Her love of all things aesthetic applies to the home as well – she enjoys home design and decorating, as well as drawing and painting.
Janice CoplinLaser technician
Janice is an oldy but a goody – one of our original team members, that is! She is clearly full of energy, having followed Dr. McGillivray from Lougheed Laser to Pacific Dermaesthetics and now on to his dream project, Project Skin MD.
Energetic? – absolutely and her loyalty is humbling. After all these years and evolutions, Janice has steadily and skillfully mastered our lasers and technologies, applying great wisdom and knowledge from a 14-year background in medical aesthetics.
Specifically, she has extensive experience in laser hair removal, Thermage® and Fraxel® re:store Dual. Janice is efficient and effective while making people feel safe and confident in her care. Her technical excellence abounds but she says her reward comes from her relationships with patients, from working together to achieve their personal goals. We are thrilled Janice has traveling in her soul and has been with us on our journey – all the way to Project Skin MD.
PS: When Janice is not at the office, she can be seen at Chapters or Starbucks, preferably when they are together in the same place. Heavenly!
Lindsay LeePatient Care Administrator
Lindsay’s story begins here in Vancouver where she was born and raised. Her friendly, warm personality and desire to help others drew her to reception work at a prominent downtown medical clinic. She further honed her admin skills with time employed at UBC, before leaving to pursue her passion for aesthetics.
Besides the knowledge acquired from her Body Spa diploma at John Casablanca (top of her class), Lindsay gained a wealth of expertise working as a skin care specialist/facialist at local spas. She is extremely excited to be able to combine her two passions — patient/client relations and skin care — at Project Skin. Nothing makes her happier than assisting people in feeling welcome, relaxed, and beautiful.
PS: Lindsay has a voracious appetite for good food! She loves checking out new restaurants in town — so if you’re looking for a food recommendation at your next appointment, don’t hesitate to ask. After all, you need somewhere to show off your radiant skin!
Stephanie SkazlicPatient Care Administrator
Stephanie is a late and GREAT addition to the opening cast of Project Skin MD and when they say “better late than never,” we couldn’t agree more! As the self-proclaimed “paperwork Queen,” we all benefit from her mastery of organization. In fact, if there was a degree for Advanced International Professional Organizer, Stephanie would hold it.
Born in Vancouver but raised in Mexico City, Stephanie returned to Vancouver and seeded a fascination with healthcare while working for the BC Children’s Hospital. Throughout her career in medicine, she has worked in both family and surgical practices as well as in MRI. Lucky for us, her kind and generous spirit, strong work ethic and desire to be part of a cohesive team led her straight to the welcoming arms of the Project Skin MD team. We are so thrilled to have her.
As a patient, you will hear her warm, gentle voice when calling the clinic and experience her eager and dedicated service during your visits. If you need her, she will always be there to help with compassion and kindness.
PS: Stephanie’s best kept secret is that she is a very talented artist (painting) – the reason she finds beauty in the simplest of things. When she has free time (between work at Project Skin MD or raising two boys), Stephanie loves cycling through the mountains with the love of her life.
Stephanie had just returned to her native Victoria when, fortunately (for us), Project Skin MD coaxed her back once again to our glorious city! Her extensive sales and customer service background, together with her nurturing and compassionate personality, make Stephanie a perfect and congruent fit with the Project Skin MD team.
She feels privileged to share her passion and knowledge of advanced skincare and cosmetic treatments, particularly because of her belief in the exceptional product lines and services Project Skin MD has to offer. After a few years observing Dr. McGillivray in action, she now has made the switch to be on his side and work with patients during their treatment. Stephanie’s bright smile and engaging manner will put you at ease for a smooth and positive experience.
PS: Stephanie loves Vancouver city life – be it dining at new restaurants, walking along the seawall or exploring local fashion designers. Oh dear – South Granville shopping will be a tad dangerous for this fashionista!
Karen SeddonSkincare Advisor
Growing up in a small seaside town, Karen could almost always be found by the beach – or at home with her makeup, trying out new looks and practicing technique. Not much has changed since then — she still lives in that same seaside town, and her passion for cosmetics and skin care is more apparent than ever.
Before joining our team, Karen spent years honing her makeup skills and building her extensive skincare knowledge while working at Shoppers Drug Mart. Today, her experience serves her well; she shines in her role as Skincare Advisor in our SkinCeuticals Advanced Clinical Spa.
Outside of work, Karen will undoubtedly be found with her family: seeking adventure on the ocean with her two young girls or scouting new and exciting places to scarf some yummy food. She loves to cook, almost as much as she loves her work, especially since a little “chef” can almost always be found by her side in the kitchen.
PS: Karen’s true passion lies in helping ladies look and feel their best… and she sure is good at what she does.
Bushra SalvinoSkincare Advisor
Originally from Pakistan, Bushra has travelled extensively and lived in various countries thanks to her diplomat father. While studying Fashion Design in London, England, she worked part-time as a medical assistant—a job that would ultimately introduce her to the industry she’s become so passionate about.
In 2010, Bushra moved to Vancouver where she began working as a Manager in a medical clinic. When one of the clinic’s physicians started her own medical aesthetic practice and invited Bushra on board as a Client Concierge, she didn’t hesitate. Soon, she was trained as a laser practitioner and was promoted to Office Manager. In this role she gained experience in client coordination, physician assistance, office management and performing laser treatments. She held this position until joining the team at Project Skin MD, and to this day receives e-mails and phone calls from past clients letting her know they miss her.
A mother to three daughters and a stepson, Bushra is passionate about fashion, makeup and skincare. On her personal days, you’ll likely find her hiking with her husband, taking a barre class with her daughters, or cultivating bonsai.
PS. Bushra knows skin! If you’re looking to transform your regimen or find the perfect product, she’s your girl.
Jessica BertoMedical Aesthetician & Aesthetic Trainer
Vancouver born and raised, our lovely Jessica knows just how to help her patients feel special; a visit with her promises to be good for your skin, and your soul.
When she graduated from Aesthetics school in 2005, she knew she had found her true passion—and boy are we glad she did. After working in a high-end spa for eight years, and helping to lead the team there to new heights and challenges in the skincare industry, she set her sights on smaller boutiques and “feels like home” environments. Jessica has spent the last four years really focusing on guest care, developing and nurturing relationships, and targeting skin concerns and regimes.
In her free time you can find this beauty on the trails with the trees, tending to her plants, reading with a cup of tea, or attempting to cook new recipes.
PS: Jessica is a lover of the classics and truly believes that, as Audrey Hepburn would say, “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible’”.
Gwen De La CostaMedical Aesthetician
This local girl has what it takes to make you feel great about your skin. A graduate of Blanche Macdonald (2000), Gwen has worked and managed for some of Vancouver’s most prestigious hotel spas. She is results driven and renown for her magic touch – your skin will glow and your mind will rest through her customized facials.
Over the past three years, Gwen has owned a private esthetics practice and is now loving every minute of her position with Project Skin MD. She is truly passionate about skincare and dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for her patients. All who meet her understand Gwen is as modest as she is talented; she is one of Vancouver’s most notable estheticians not least of all for her warmth. Her energy and attention make every professional maintenance treatment a completely rewarding experience – you’ll have to take our word for it but you’ll be singing her praises too!
In her precious free time, she relishes her family. Two young sons and a loving hubby keep her busy and grounded. Her guilty pleasures include traveling and great food. A year in Paris and Munich after high school sparked her obsession with skin care and the hunt for great new restaurants ensues whenever she can find a sitter.
PS: Gwen will help you change the way you feel about your skin…just let her get her hands on you!
Nashina MeraniMedical Aesthetician
Nashina – formerly the friendly face welcoming you to the second floor Project Skin MD clinic. Now in her role as Medical Aesthetician, we guarantee, her warmth will envelop you and make you feel right at home! Whatever your ‘project,’ she will be your ‘project’ manager, ensuring you are well informed, scheduled appropriately and deployed on a well-advised route to long-term results. Nashina instills confidence and clarity to the patient experience at Project Skin MD.
Nashina has a 12-year history in aesthetics including as an instructor at a medical training institute for cosmetic technologies – the girl knows her stuff! Her teaching curriculum included laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photorejuvenation and advanced dermal skincare – specifically the function, condition and repair of skin. Her extensive knowledge is secondary only to her patient care abilities; Nashina loves people and has a knack for building quality, long lasting relationships. A fully certified medical aesthetician, Nashina’s passion for working one-on-one with patients has called her back to performing treatments such as chemical peels and consulting on maintenance strategies.
PS: Trust is key to Nashina’s greatest professional reward… watching patients’ confidence and self-esteem grow. Her leading goal at Project Skin MD is to ensure you come in and leave smiling – a day well spent!
Daisy CastellonMedical Office Assistant to Dr. Photis Loizides
The always charming Daisy was born in Ottawa, Ontario but raised in Reno, Nevada. After high school graduation, Canada’s West Coast called her and she moved back to Vancouver, the city she still calls home.
Daisy studied to become a Medical Office Assistant and has been working in the field ever since. After working at a family practice, she came to work for Dr. Photis Loizides in 2016, and has since been helping him attend to patients’ needs quickly and efficiently.
Healthcare was always her career calling, but working alongside a Plastic Surgeon has been her favourite experience so far. She loves interacting with patients, and her passion and care are apparent. She is always sensitive to a patient’s needs and concerns, whether they’ve undergone a minor procedure or a major surgery.
When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find Daisy spending time with her family and seeking new adventures; food, places, or activities, she doesn’t discriminate when it comes to trying new things.
PS. If you’re scheduling a minor procedure or plastic surgery consultation with Dr. Loizides, you’ll most certainly get a chance to meet the lovely Daisy!
Gillian YoungSocial Media Coordinator
Gillian was born and raised in Vancouver but has spent the majority of her life wanderlusting around the world. She holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism but her curious nature has taken her career in several directions – from producing documentary series for the Discovery Channel, to travel writing, to working as a private chef and cooking class teacher and leading excursions around Paris – this young woman does not believe in limiting her dreams.
It was her love of health, beauty and wellness that pulled Gillian home to Vancouver, where she has become a key skincare advisor at the Skinceuticals Advanced Clinical Spa and the Instagram guru for Project Skin MD. While her heart has recently pulled her South to California – she remains a part of the PS Family writing the new PS Lifestyle Magazine and bringing life to our Instagram.
PS. When Gillian is not writing, you’ll find her in a gym pushing her boundaries as a fitness competitor and eating a protein bar (or peanut butter or boiled eggs!!).
Nenita AguilarSenior Bookkeeper
Nenita is one of our ‘behind the scenes’ gals, but her contribution to PS is front and centre of our success. Modest by nature, she won’t agree but she is indeed our numbers guru, our accounting genius and admired greatly by the entire PS crew. She has been on Dr. McGillivray’s journey for many years, leading all the way to Project Skin MD. We couldn’t be more blessed or grateful for her service all these years and, like it or not, she cannot retire until we say so!
PS: When Nenita isn’t crunching numbers, she will be found with the apple of her eye, her grandson Lucas, and the other love of her life, her beautiful daughter Katrin.

Sophia LeeSkincare Advisor & Assistant Manager, Richmond Location
Sophia, a Visual Arts graduate from the University of Victoria, has an eye for beautiful things. With ten years of graphic design experience, and years spent teaching children to paint and draw, she set her sights on her next goal: making beautiful, healthy skin.
Her first foray into the skincare industry was as the Operations and Projects Manager for a physician directed skincare product line founded by a local doctor. In her role, Sophia was responsible for managing the warehouse, contacting and searching for new suppliers, as well as product packaging and marketing strategy. These responsibilities sparked her love for the beauty industry, and she knew she had to learn more.
Today, she’s using her skills and experience to the advantage of her clients, working daily to help them achieve their skin goals. In her free time, you’ll likely find her with her dog – at the beach, hiking, or camping.
PS. Don’t think you’ll find Sophia on adventures with her pup without her sunscreen on! SPF is her secret weapon for keeping her skin happy and healthy.
Crystal HuangSkincare Advisor, Richmond Location
Born in China, the lovely Crystal moved to Canada at the age of twelve. With a lifelong passion for beauty and fashion, she feels right at home in the aesthetic industry, though she tried her hand at a few other careers before finding her way to our team. In fact, her first job was as a Legal Administrative Assistant at a law firm.
With a Bachelor of Life Sciences from the University of British Columbia, Crystal is a self-proclaimed science geek (she can remember and pronounce “hydroxyphenocy propionic acid” without a problem but might have difficulty spelling “pronunciation”). This background certainly serves her well as she works to understand the science of her clients’ skin.
Crystal is a new mom, so when she’s not helping you get your glow on, you’ll find her spending time with her beautiful baby boy.
PS. Crystal loves to bake cakes, and believes the best way to deal with a difficult situation is to treat it like “a piece of cake”; chew it, embrace it, and digest it.
